Is setting conditions for a suitor to be financially well-off and to own a clean and quiet apartment, and rejecting others even if they are committed and pious, considered contrary to Islamic law?

The criterion for choosing a husband is religion and character, along with the ability to provide, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If someone whose character and religion you approve of comes to you [proposing marriage], then marry him. If you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption."

There is no harm in the wife stipulating that he be well-off, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, advised Fatimah bint Qays not to marry Mu'awiyah because he was a pauper with no wealth.

If a wealthy but deviant man is contrasted with a poor but righteous one, prioritizing the righteous is better, because Allah has guaranteed wealth for those who marry seeking chastity, as in His saying, the Almighty: "And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty. And Allah is all-encompassing and knowing." (An-Nur:32), and in the Hadith: "Three are entitled to Allah's help… the one who marries, desiring chastity."
