Is a wife considered sinful if she marries a poor man, and will she be rewarded for spending on him?

It is permissible to marry a poor man if he is pleasing in his religion and character, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If someone whose religion and character you approve comes to seek your daughter in marriage, then marry her to him." There is no harm for him in taking from his wife's money with her consent, for she will be rewarded for spending on him. Poverty is not a defect; Allah may enrich the poor from His bounty, as Almighty Allah says: "If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty." It is necessary to convince the mother that the criterion is piety, not wealth. If the mother insists on refusing, it is permissible to marry him on the condition that the woman has a legal guardian, who is the father, then the son, then the brother, and so on. If none of these are available, then the ruler is the guardian of one who has no guardian. A woman's effort to facilitate the dowry is evidence of her sound judgment.
