How should I act towards a religious suitor whom I do not know well and who does not have the financial means to buy an apartment?
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged marriage due to its benefits of increasing progeny, promoting chastity, and attaining wealth. Allah, the Exalted, says: "And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous of your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." Therefore, one should hasten to marry if a religious suitor proposes to a woman, for good morals are often associated with religiosity. The suitor's financial capabilities should not be a reason to delay or reject marriage, as long as he is religious and capable of earning a living, for a religious person's earnings are blessed. We also recommend seeking Allah's guidance through Istikhara and consulting others.
