Why is a woman not permitted to go to the mosque to perform the Eid prayer?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded women to go out for the Eid prayer, even those who were menstruating. They should, however, avoid the prayer area and instead witness the good and listen to the sermon from outside. A woman must go out without adornment or perfume, and in her old clothes to avoid temptation. If she refuses to go out in this manner, her husband has the right to prevent her.
