The answer

A woman may wear perfume when going to a women's gathering where no men will be present. However, she is not permitted to wear perfume when going out to markets where men are present, based on the Prophet's ﷺ saying: "Any woman who has applied incense (perfume) should not attend 'Isha' prayer with us." This is because her going out with perfume in the path of men and in their gatherings is a cause of fitnah (temptation). She must cover herself and beware of displaying her adornments (tabarruj). Allah Almighty says: "And abide in your houses and do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance." And among the forms of tabarruj is the display of attractive features and beauties, such as the face, head, and others.
