The answer

It is not permissible for a woman to perfume herself with incense or fragrances when going out to work, the market, the mosque, or similar places. This is due to the established prophetic hadiths that prohibit such acts and consider them a cause of temptation (fitna), such as: "Any woman who perfumes herself and then goes out, passing by people so that they smell her fragrance, she is an adulteress." And "Any woman who has used incense, let her not attend our last Isha prayer." And his (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not prevent the maidservants of Allah from Allah's mosques, but let them go out unperfumed," meaning without applying perfume. As for a fragrance that merely removes an unpleasant odor without its scent spreading to others, it is permissible to use it, though it is better to bathe with water and change clothes.
