Is it permissible for a woman to wear perfume, and what is the difference between her and a man in this regard?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
A woman is permitted to wear perfume in her home or among other women, and it is recommended for her to do so if it is for her husband. However, if she goes out perfumed with the intention that non-mahram men smell her fragrance, then this is haram (forbidden), and she incurs sin for it. As for a man, he does not cause fitna (temptation) in the same way a woman does, unless he is a handsome beardless youth by whom men are tempted; in such a case, he must avoid causes of temptation, beautification, and perfuming himself.
