Is it permissible for a woman to go out perfumed with a non-pungent scent to places other than markets, such as the mosque or to visit female friends, knowing that she will not mix with men?

It is impermissible for a woman to leave her house wearing perfume, whether she is going to the markets or any other place where there is a likelihood of causing temptation. Imam Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami considered this a major sin, citing Prophetic hadiths, among them the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Every eye is an adulterer, and when a woman perfumes herself and passes by a gathering, she is like such and such," meaning an adulterer. And his saying: "Any woman who perfumes herself and passes by people so that they may smell her fragrance is an adulterer, and every eye is an adulterer."
