The answer

It is not permissible for a person in a state of minor ritual impurity (al-muhdith hadathan asghar) to touch the Quran (mus'haf). This is the position of the four imams and the majority of scholars, who cite the Almighty's saying: "{None shall touch it save the purified}" [Quran 56:79], and the : "None shall touch the Quran except one who is pure." Some Maliki jurists have permitted a person in a state of minor ritual impurity to touch the Quran if they are a teacher or a student, but the apparent meaning of the evidence indicates that it is not permissible for a person in a state of ritual impurity to touch the complete Quran.
