Is it permissible for a woman who suffers from severe hair loss and baldness, which causes her depression, to wear a wig, given that hair transplantation has not been effective, and does this affect ablution?

Scholars differ on the ruling concerning the use of wigs (barouqa). Some prohibit it absolutely, considering it an unlawful hair extension (wasl), citing hadiths that curse the woman who affixes hair extensions and the woman for whom they are affixed, even if the woman is bald. Others permit it for concealing a defect, such as baldness, arguing that the prohibition of hair extensions does not apply to wigs because they are not attached to the hair.

Regarding wiping over the wig during ablution (wudu'), it is more cautious and preferable to remove it and wipe directly on the head, even if wiping over it is permissible. However, during the ritual bath (ghusl (definition)), it must be removed to allow water to reach all parts of the skin.
