The heirs of the deceased are her daughter, her mother, and her full paternal uncle. The daughter receives one-half as a fixed share (fard) due to her sole presence. The mother receives one-sixth due to the presence of a lineal descendant (heir through offspring). What remains goes to the full paternal uncle by 'asabah (residuary heirship). There is nothing for the maternal brother, the paternal uncle, the son of the full paternal uncle, or the grandmother; they are excluded from inheritance. This distribution is based on the assumption that the father died before his daughter; in case of doubt, they do not inherit from each other. We emphasize the necessity of referring inheritance matters to the Sharia courts.
