Will animals be subject to retribution on the Day of Resurrection, and if so, how would that happen when they are not held accountable (for their deeds)?

Allah Almighty will judge between all creatures on the Day of Judgment, including animals. He will exact justice for the hornless sheep against the horned one. This is not a recompense for an obligation, but rather a recompense of equivalence, to inform His servants that rights are not lost. If this is the case for animals that are not held accountable, then what about those endowed with intellect? At that point, the disbeliever will wish he were dust.
