Will animals raised in homes and who testify against us be held accountable on the Day of Judgment?
Animals are not held accountable like humans are. What has been reported about their gathering and some of them settling scores with each other on the Day of Resurrection is not a retribution of accountability, but rather a retribution of requital. Al-Nawawi said: "This is a clear statement that animals will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection and brought back to life, just as accountable humans will be brought back to life... And it is not a condition for gathering and resurrection on the Day of Judgment to have recompense, punishment, or reward." It has been narrated from Ibn Umar that animals will settle scores among themselves, and then they will be told: "Be dust." There is no evidence to suggest that animals will bear witness against humans on the Day of Resurrection.
