To what extent is the demolition and destruction of the Kaaba true in the years 64 AH, 74 AH, 119 AH, 1019 AH, and 1039 AH, and what is the authenticity of the saying of Omar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding kissing the Black Stone: "By Allah, had I not seen the Messenger of Allah kiss you, I would not have kissed you"?

Historical texts gather incidents of the demolition and rebuilding of the Kaaba. Ibn al-Zubayr rebuilt the Kaaba in the years 64 AH and 65 AH upon the foundations of Abraham. Then, Al-Hajjaj demolished six cubits and a span from the side facing the Hijr, by order of Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, and rebuilt it upon the foundations of Quraysh.

As for the Kaaba's covering (kiswah), Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik used to cover it with thick brocade. Al-Mahdi removed its covering and dressed it with a new one.

It is mentioned that Al-Walid ibn Yazid intended to perform Hajj and drink wine on top of the Kaaba, which led to the princes uniting to kill him.

In the year 1019 AH, a wall of the Kaaba cracked, so it was treated by encircling it with a metal band. In the year 1039 AH, heavy rains fell, leading to the collapse of the northern (Shami) wall and parts of the eastern and western walls. The Ottoman Sultan then ordered its reconstruction, and the repair process took six months.

As for Umar's kissing of the Black Stone, it is an authentic tradition narrated by Bukhari and Muslim. The wording in Bukhari is: "Were it not that I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, kiss you, I would not have kissed you."
