Have any of the rulings pertaining to the sacred months remained practically in effect, or are they merely for belief, owing to their mention in the Book of Allah?

Scholars have mentioned among the rulings concerning the sacred months that injustice committed therein is more severely prohibited, based on the Almighty's saying: "So do not wrong yourselves therein." Fasting in them is also recommended, according to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The best fasting after Ramadan is Allah's month of Muharram." They differed regarding whether the prohibition of fighting in them was abrogated or not, with the majority holding that it was abrogated.
