Is it permissible for a resident of Jeddah to enter into a state of Ihram for Hajj from Jeddah, and what is the ruling concerning one who enters into Ihram from Jeddah and then wears sewn clothing before reaching Makkah?

It is not permissible for anyone intending to perform Hajj or Umrah to pass the Miqat without entering into a state of Ihram. For those residing within the Mawaqeet (plural of Miqat), their Miqat is where they are, such as the people of Jeddah who enter into Ihram from Jeddah. Anyone who passes Mecca without entering into Ihram is obligated to offer a sacrifice (a sheep to be slaughtered and distributed among the poor of the Haram). If someone enters into Ihram from Jeddah and wears sewn clothes, they are obligated to offer a Fidyah (expiation), which is either fasting for three days, or feeding six needy persons, or slaughtering a sheep.
