What is the ruling regarding someone who is unable to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer?

The time for Eid prayer is from sunrise until midday (zawwal). Whoever misses it with the Imam should pray it as a performance. Scholars have differed on whether it should be made up if its time has passed. The Shafi'is, Malik, and Abu Thawr held the view that it is recommended to make it up perpetually. Malik, Abu Hanifa, Al-Mundhiri, and Dawud held the view that it is not to be made up. However, Abu Yusuf and Muhammad held the view that it should be made up on the second day, and for Eid al-Adha, on the second and third days. Whoever prays it individually should pray it as two rak'ahs, similar to the Imam's prayer.
