Did I commit a sin when I reported my father's act with a woman in my apartment, knowing that my intention was to deter him from this act and his immoral behavior, and will this sin remain with me if my father dies in this state?

The police should not be informed about the father before seeking easier solutions, such as informing relatives or religious scholars. The rights of parents are great, and it is not permissible to harm them, even if they have bad manners. One must associate with them in kindness, even if they are polytheists who command shirk (polytheism).

It is not permissible to obey them in disobeying Allah. Rather, one must denounce evil committed by them and prevent them from it by every legitimate means, while adhering to gentleness and proper etiquette.

It is advised to continue showing filial piety to the father and obeying him in matters that do not involve disobedience to Allah, and to advise him gently, warning him of dire consequences, and reminding him of death. Also, encourage religious scholars to advise him and urge him to attend gatherings of knowledge, and persist in supplicating for his guidance.

It is not permissible to accuse the father of indecency without conclusive evidence.
