When should a wife stop praying and fasting, and when should she resume them, if menstruation begins with intermittent bleeding?

If a woman sees menstrual blood, she is obliged to cease praying and fasting. If the bleeding stops during menstruation, then it is examined: if traces of blood remain, then menstruation is not considered to have ceased. If complete dryness and purity are achieved, then this is a sign that her menstruation has ended, and she becomes pure, performs ghusl (ritual bath), prays, and fasts. This is the view of the Malikis and Hanbalis. The scholars of the Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas have stated that if menstruation stops for one day or one night during her menstrual period, she must perform ghusl and pray the prayers whose time she caught while pure.
