What is the ruling on shunning family despite repeated attempts at reconciliation and insults?

A Muslim must maintain ties of kinship and is not permitted to sever them, for Allah Almighty says: (And those who join that which Allah has commanded to be joined), and His saying: (And fear Allah, through Whom you ask one another, and the wombs). Allah has warned against severance, saying: (So is it expected of you, if you take authority, that you would cause corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship?). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, emphasized the importance of maintaining ties of kinship for entering Paradise. If the one who maintains ties is mistreated by his relatives, he must be patient and seek reward from Allah, and not sever ties with them, because "there will always be a supporter from Allah with him as long as he maintains ties with them." If there is a reason preventing them from communicating, it must be removed for brotherhood and affection to return.
