Is it permissible for me to shorten and combine prayers in Jeddah or the Eastern Province, given that every Thursday night I travel from Jeddah to the Eastern Province where I work, and return to Jeddah on Wednesday night?

It is not permissible to shorten prayers in Jeddah if one's family and home are there, because a traveler, upon reaching a land where his wife and property are located, must offer the prayers in full. As for the workplace in the Eastern Province, the majority of scholars agree that if a traveler intends to stay for four days, the ruling of travel ceases for him, and he becomes like a resident. According to the Shafi'is and Malikis, prayer must be offered in full if the stay extends for four days and their nights, excluding the day of arrival and departure. However, according to the Hanbalis, if one intends to stay for more than twenty prayers, he must offer them in full.
