Why did Islam not forbid men from wearing perfume, even though women might be tempted by its scent, while it forbade it for women? Is a woman's going out perfumed, without the intention of temptation, forbidden, even if in a small quantity? Is it permissible for a woman to spray perfume on her clothes while washing them and then go out in them?

Men are more tempted by women than women are by men. A Muslim must submit to the Sharia ruling, even if he does not know the wisdom behind it. However, it is permissible for a person to ask about the wisdom in Sharia rulings if the intention is to gain knowledge.

It is forbidden for a woman to wear perfume when leaving her home if there are men who will smell it, unless she is going to a women-only gathering and will not pass by men on her way. Some scholars have stated that the prohibition is conditional upon the certainty or strong probability of tempting men. Others believe that the prohibition is conditional upon the woman's intention and her aim to tempt men.
