Is it permissible to completely cease pregnancy and childbirth due to suffering from a severe illness during pregnancy that necessitates abstaining from food and drink and receiving nutrition intravenously in the hospital?

Islamic Sharia (definition) encourages marriage and increasing progeny, and absolutely prohibits birth control unless there is a necessity. If a woman is weak or ill and pregnancy would harm her, then it is permissible for her to use temporary birth control until the harm is removed. If the harm is continuous, then there is no objection to permanent birth control, provided the husband agrees and doctors estimate that childbirth would harm the woman.
