Being a 27-year-old unmarried woman, suffering from intense sexual desire, is it permissible for me to undergo female circumcision after the doctor refused to perform it, citing its impermissibility?

The doctor erred by refusing to perform circumcision. It is not forbidden; rather, it is legislated for women as a recommended act, based on the general Hadith: "The fitra [natural disposition] is five..." Circumcision was present during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, as evidenced by his saying: "When he sits between her four parts and the circumcised part touches the circumcised part, then ghusl [ritual bath] becomes obligatory." Therefore, it is recommended to have it performed by a trustworthy Muslim female doctor, ensuring she does not remove too much.

As for desire, it is recommended to turn towards what benefits one in religion and worldly matters, avoid being alone with oneself, associate with righteous company, and fast frequently, for it is a "shield." One should also beware of everything that incites desire, such as looking at forbidden things and mingling with men. It is also recommended to ask Allah for chastity and a righteous spouse during times when prayers are answered, and one can inform trustworthy individuals of one's desire to marry.
