What is the ruling on resorting to permanent sterilization by ligating the fallopian tubes or excising the uterus for a wife who is exhausted from repeated consecutive pregnancies and for whom other contraceptive methods are ineffective?

It is permissible to permanently or temporarily prevent conception if there is a religious necessity or need for it, such as when trustworthy doctors determine that pregnancy or childbirth would harm the woman's health, worsen her illness, or is feared to cause her death. This is conditional upon the husband's approval and that the method used is lawful and does not cause harm. However, it is forbidden to remove the ability to procreate except in cases of necessity, according to its Islamic legal standards.
