Is it permissible for a female obstetrician and gynaecologist to perform permanent tubal ligation or elective abortions as part of her work?

Permanent sterilization for either men or women is impermissible except in cases of extreme necessity, as it contravenes the Sharia (definition)'s encouragement of procreation and reproduction. As for abortion, its fundamental ruling is prohibition, and it is not permissible except in specific cases and before the ensoulment, such as when the continuation of the pregnancy poses a danger to the mother's health, or there is a severe and confirmed untreatable deformity, or if the fetus is a result of rape. However, after ensoulment, abortion is not permissible unless the continuation of the pregnancy poses a threat to the mother's life. Difficulties in upbringing or challenging financial circumstances are not considered valid excuses that permit abortion.
