Is it possible to get rid of homosexual inclinations for someone who strives to purify himself and seeks marriage? The narration regarding the burning of the sodomite by the Companions is mursal, and relying on a mursal narration as evidence is a matter of dispute. The disagreement over the authenticity of the narration leads to a disagreement about the method of killing the sodomite, not about the principle of killing itself, as the Companions unanimously agreed on his killing. As for a mere inclination that does not result in a word or action, a person is not punished for it, and striving against it is a sign of piety. The questioner is advised to turn away from waswasah (whispers of Satan) and strive diligently in seeking salvation, for Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity. He has opened the doors of mercy, forgiveness, and pardon, and has not placed any hardship in religion; rather, He has made it easy and facilitated it.
