What is the ruling of Islamic law concerning dealing with a father who abuses his wife and children and neglects his religious duties, and is the daughter held accountable if she prevents him from beating her mother?

It is forbidden for a husband to beat his wife or curse and insult her, unless she is disobedient (nashiz). If he does so, the wife has the right to take the matter to a judge to discipline him or compel him to divorce. The husband must deal justly between his wives in terms of lodging and division of time, unless a wife waives her right. The husband's disobedience (nushuz) allows the wife to seek a divorce. The child must prevent his father from oppressing his mother by all means possible, and this does not contradict filial piety; rather, it is considered a form of piety. He must also advise his father regarding prayer and fasting.
