What is the ruling regarding a wife who harms her husband, assaults him physically, and takes their daughter from him by force? And is it permissible for the husband to prevent his young daughter from being with the wife's family who harm him?

Inciting a wife against her husband is a grave matter and a means of family dissolution, which Islamic law has prohibited. The wife's family members who instigate her against her husband are transgressors and sinners, and they must repent. Relatives should be a support for the couple in harmony, not in discord. If the wife has harmed her husband, beaten him, taken the daughter, and threatened him with the police, then she is disobedient (nashiz). The treatment for disobedience is admonition, then abstention from conjugal relations, then non-brutal physical discipline. If these measures are ineffective, then divorce may be considered, and the husband has the right to refuse divorcing her until she ransoms herself from him. Custody of the child rests with both parents as long as the marital relationship exists, and upon separation, it is with the mother unless she remarries.
