The Quran is a healing for people, as stated in the Almighty's قول: (And We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers). It is a healing for hearts and bodies. The Prophet's Sunnah contains indications of the permissibility of placing one's hand on the site of pain and reciting prayers for healing. In Sahih Muslim, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, guided 'Uthman ibn Abi al-'As al-Thaqafi to place his hand on the site of pain and say: "In the name of Allah" three times, and "I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I find and what I fear" seven times. There is no objection to washing the painful limb with water over which the Quran has been recited, as long as the limb is pure.
