Is it permissible to perform ruqyah on the heart by placing the hand on the chest and reciting verses and supplications with the intention of protecting it from tribulations and diseases of the heart?

The soundness of the heart depends on the soundness of the body, and its corruption depends on the body's corruption. Its soundness is achieved through beneficial knowledge, righteous deeds, and supplication to Allah. There is no explicit prohibition or permission regarding the ruqya of the heart by placing a hand on the chest. However, it is reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) placed his hand on the chest of a young man and supplicated for his heart to be purified and his private parts to be protected, and this might be considered a form of ruqya. More accurately, he placed his hand to calm the young man and supplicate for him, not in the manner of known ruqya. It has not been narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught anyone to place their hand on their heart when making supplication. Rather, he focused on persistently supplicating for the purification of the heart and taking the means to achieve that, such as repentance, seeking forgiveness, reciting the Quran, and engaging in remembrance of Allah.
