Is the wife obligated to make up for the expiation of sexual intercourse during the daytime in Ramadan, which occurred 13 years ago, or is it solely the husband's responsibility? What is the ruling on delaying the expiation for all this time? Is the expiation doubled due to the delay? And what is the estimated value of the expiation in Saudi Riyals for feeding a needy person at the present time?

If a woman is coerced into sexual intercourse during the daytime in Ramadan, she is not required to offer expiation (kaffarah). It is recommended for her to make up the days when her fast was invalidated.

However, if she willingly engages in sexual intercourse with her husband during the daytime in Ramadan, she must repent, and expiation becomes obligatory upon her. This expiation is freeing a slave; if she cannot find one, then fasting for two consecutive months; and if she is unable to do that, then feeding sixty poor people.

If sexual intercourse occurs on two separate days, the majority of scholars, including the Malikis and Shafi'is, hold that two expiations are required. The Hanafis, however, are of the view that only one expiation is sufficient.

It is forbidden to delay making up missed Ramadan fasts until the next Ramadan without a valid excuse. In such a case, in addition to making up the fasts, one must feed one poor person for each missed day. The amount of food is one mudd of wheat (approximately 750 grams) or half a saa' of other grains (approximately 1.5 kilograms). The majority of scholars believe that giving food in kind is obligatory, not its monetary value. Abu Hanifa and Ibn Taymiyyah differed on this, permitting monetary value if it is more beneficial for the poor.
