Do the secretions that follow the cessation of postpartum bleeding count as nifas, or is prayer obligatory thereafter, and is it necessary to make up missed prayers when the number of days is unknown?

If the yellowish or brownish discharge is connected to blood within the forty-day period, it is considered nifas (postpartum bleeding). However, if it is not connected to blood, and the woman sees purity (cessation of bleeding) and then this discharge returns, there is a scholarly difference of opinion regarding whether it is considered nifas. Ibn Uthaymeen favored the view that it is not nifas. As for white discharge after the cessation of blood, it is not considered nifas. If the discharge is nifas, there is no need to make up the prayers. If it is not nifas, then one must make up the missed prayers by investigating until certainty is achieved or until there is a strong probability that the obligation has been fulfilled.
