The answer

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen said: "A woman's beautification for her husband within the bounds of Islamic law is مطلوب (desirable/required), and there is no harm in using makeup if it beautifies and does not cause harm." He advised women to ask doctors about the harms of makeup, stating that if its harm is proven, then its use would be haram (forbidden) or makruh (disliked). As for nail polish (manicure), it is not permissible for a woman who has performed ablution (wudu') or a full ritual bath (ghusl) to use it, because it prevents water from reaching [the nails], thereby invalidating the purification. However, for a woman who does not pray, there is no harm in it, unless it involves imitating disbelievers.
