Is it permissible not to have children, given that there is no infertility, due to severe hereditary birth defects in the wife that may be passed on to most of the children, and contemplating divorce if preventing procreation is unlawful?

There is no harm in using temporary contraceptives, but it is forbidden to use permanent ones. Leaving the matter of procreation to Allah may result in healthy children, and even if a child is disabled, there may be great benefit in him. Procreation is a right of both parents, and the wife's consent is necessary for not having children; thus, coitus interruptus is not permissible with a free woman except with her permission.
