What is the ruling on one who drinks alcohol, knowing its prohibition, and encourages and distributes it to others? And how can one quit drinking alcohol, and what is the advice regarding that?
Drinking alcohol and assisting in it are among the gravest and most evil sins. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, called it "the mother of all evils." If one drinks it, their prayers will not be accepted for forty days, and if they die with it in their stomach, they will die a death of ignorance. Uthman ibn Affan clarified that alcohol can lead its drinker to commit immoral acts and murder, and that faith and alcohol addiction cannot coexist. Alcohol brings about a curse, hinders the remembrance of Allah and prayer, and removes the intellect. Allah has commanded abstaining from it because it is an abomination from the work of Satan and causes enmity and hatred.
