What is the ruling on working for a company that provides consultations and financial data to insurance companies regarding the risks of non-payment, and is it permissible to adopt the more lenient opinion if there is a difference of opinion among scholars?

The work of the questioner in collecting data about companies is not inherently forbidden. However, its ruling changes based on what results from it, for means take the rulings of their ends. If this work leads to something forbidden, then it is forbidden, as a way of blocking the means (sadd al-dhari'ah). This falls under the general meaning of Allah's saying: {And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.} (Quran 5:2). Based on this, it is not permissible to work for a company that provides financial and credit consultations for conducting forbidden commercial insurance contracts, due to the cooperation in sin involved therein.
