Is it permissible for the husband's parents to prevent their son's wife from visiting her family and staying with them for a break?

A wife's obedience is to her husband. If he agrees to her visiting her family, then it is not considered as his parents' displeasure. However, the wife should be keen on pleasing her husband's parents and treating them kindly. She should handle matters wisely so as not to be a cause of disagreement between her husband and his parents. Instead, she should be an aid to him in honoring them. She should be gentle with them, recalling the words of Allah Almighty: (Repel [evil] with that which is better, and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity will become as though he was a devoted friend).
