Is my effort to reconcile my family after causing a rift sufficient to expiate my sin?

Quarreling, turning away from each other, and mutual animosity among Muslims are among the gravest sins. The matter becomes even more serious if it occurs between relatives, as it is a major sin and a reason for being expelled from Allah's mercy, for Allah the Almighty says: "So would you, perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth and sever your ties of kinship? Those are the ones whom Allah has cursed, so He made them deaf and blinded their vision." Expelling an uncle from the house is a means of severing ties of kinship, and it is a wrongdoing and a lack of manners. One must repent from it. Efforts must be made to reconcile and mend relations among family members and uncles, for reconciliation among people is among the greatest acts of worship, especially among those related by kinship, for Allah the Almighty says: "There is no good in much of their private conversation, except for whoever enjoins charity or what is good or reconciliation among people. And whoever does that seeking Allah's pleasure, We will surely give him a great reward." If reconciliation is not achieved after diligent effort, then one is absolved of responsibility.
