What is the ruling on my intervention to help relatives or friends obtain an academic major, continue their studies, secure university accommodation, or find a job, knowing that intercession (wasta) is widespread in my field of work and in my country?

The Prophet (peace be upon him) encouraged intercession and helping people, and allowed intercession for relatives and others if they deserved what was interceded for them, and if it did not infringe upon the rights of others. However, intercession in a forbidden matter, such as forgery, deception, or injustice, is not permissible, due to the Almighty's saying: "Whoever intercedes with a good intercession will have a share of it, and whoever intercedes with a bad intercession will have a share of it. And Allah is over all things a Sustainer."
