Is it permissible for a disabled person who finds it difficult to turn and hold the pages of the Mushaf to place a spiral binding instead of the spine of the Mushaf?

There is no objection to placing a wire in place of the spine of the Mus'haf (copy of the Qur'an) to facilitate turning the pages. This does not involve exaggeration or extremism in glorifying the Mus'haf. Some of the Tabi'in (successors of the companions) issued fatwas permitting touching the Qur'an with a 'ilaqah (a string by which something is tied) for one who is not in a state of ritual purity, and they permitted turning its pages with a stick or similar object, because that is not considered touching the essence of the Mus'haf. This action is even more permissible for a person with a disability, due to the presence of an excuse, and his eagerness to recite the Qur'an and learn it is part of the glorification of the Book of Allah.
