What is the ruling on sitting on the wide cushions placed in the first row of mosques, with Qurans placed behind them, for sick individuals who cannot stand, and what is the ruling on passing over them?

Firstly, one should avoid sitting on cushions beneath which a Mushaf (copy of the Qur'an) is placed, or walking over them, out of reverence for the rituals of Allah. However, if there is a need to do so, and it does not involve disrespect or belittlement of the Mushaf, then there is no harm, as long as the person sitting is not directly on the Mushaf. The same applies to placing a cushion behind one's back. One commits an act of disbelief by placing one's foot on the Mushaf in a manner that shows contempt; otherwise, not. It is not permissible to place shoes or similar items in an upper cabinet while the Mushaf is in a lower one. If the Mushaf is placed in a container and one rides on it, if this is done in a manner considered disdainful, it is forbidden; otherwise, not.
