The answer

It is forbidden to assist a thief in any way, especially by selling stolen goods to him, because this constitutes cooperation in sin and aggression. Whoever knows that what he is taking is stolen becomes like the thief. The buyer must return the stolen item to its owner and demand the price from the thief. If the owner is not known, the money should be given as charity. The mother can reclaim the price from the seller of the stolen item, and then the seller can reclaim it from the thief.
