The answer

It is impermissible to purchase stolen goods with knowledge of them being stolen. Whoever does so is considered an accomplice to the thief and must return the goods to their rightful owner or their market value if they have been sold. If the owner cannot be identified after a search, the value of the goods should be given as charity. As for the price paid to the thief, one may recover it from the thief if found; otherwise, no one else should be asked to pay it back. He must also offer sincere repentance.
