Is it permissible to sell gold acquired through illicit means to one's mother, knowing that it is illicit, and what should be done with the remaining money from it?

Unlawfully acquired money through theft, usurpation, or similar means must be returned to its owners or their heirs, even if indirectly. If this is not possible, it should be given as charity on their behalf.
