The answer

It is permissible for a person to be both a partner and an employee (ajir) at the same time, receiving wages for his work, either as a fixed salary or an increase in his share of the profits. The condition for this permissibility is that the work performed by one of the partners must be under a separate contract from the partnership agreement, and his work must not be something required of him by virtue of his being a partner, nor should he have performed it voluntarily. So, if it is customary for a partner to undertake a certain task, he may do so for a wage; and if it is customary to delegate, he may hire someone from the company's funds, even his own partner, to perform this work.
