What is the ruling on reciting the Qur’an for the deceased, and is the story mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim about Imam Ahmad’s permissibility of reciting the Qur’an at the grave, after he recanted his opinion on its prohibition, authentic?

Reciting the Quran at graves, setting up marquees, celebrating the anniversary of a person's death, and bringing reciters for that purpose are reprehensible innovations. What is prescribed is to supplicate for the deceased, give charity on their behalf, fulfill their promises, execute their will, maintain kinship ties, perform Hajj and Umrah (definition) on their behalf, and settle their debts. A group of scholars narrated from Imam Ahmad that he disliked the recitation of the Quran at graves.
