Is it permissible to recite the Qur'an at the grave?

Reciting the Qur’an at the grave is not legislated, because it was not reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet visited graves and supplicated for the deceased, but he did not recite the Qur’an for them. Had it been legislated, he would have done it and clarified it to his Companions. The Companions followed his example and confined themselves to supplicating for the deceased when visiting them, and it has not been authentically reported from them that they recited the Qur’an. Therefore, reciting it (at the grave) would be an innovated bid’ah (innovation), and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever introduces into this matter of ours that which is not from it, then it is rejected."
