If a traveler is permitted to break their fast during their journey, and then they fast with the intention of making up for a missed fast (qadaa'), or as a supererogatory fast (tatawwu'), or for any other reason, it is apparent that this fast does not count for either the qadaa' nor for the current . This is the view of the Maliki school.
For the Hanafis, there are two opinions: one stating that it counts for the current Ramadan, and another stating that it counts for the qadaa'.
