Is it permissible for a father to marry off his daughter to a man of good conduct, who insists on holding his wedding reception with music, despite knowing it is forbidden, and who is among those who pray but do not diligently perform congregational prayers?

The guardian of a woman should marry her to one known for prayer, uprightness, and avoidance of forbidden acts. Congregational prayer in the mosque is obligatory, and listening to music is forbidden. Beginning married life with an act of disobedience to Allah is unfitting for a Muslim. Sheikh Al-Uthaymeen held the view that one who abandons congregational prayer is a disobedient person (fasiq), and it is permissible to marry him to a Muslim woman, but those who are upright in religion and morals are preferred over him. He emphasized that the primary consideration and focus in marriage should be religion and character. Based on this, the father is advised to seek a better husband for his daughter. However, if the daughter needs to get married and no one better proposes to her, it is preferable to marry her to him while continuing to advise him to fear Allah, perform congregational prayers, and refrain from holding a wedding ceremony with music.
